Legacy of Lactation
Recently, while staying with a good friend, her daughter Emily demonstrated how she nurses her baby. Heck, she even tandem nurses her twins (apparently through her belly button, but whatever)! What a girl - look at that smile, she already knows she is giving the very best to her baby dolls! Sometimes she lifts up her shirt, and she also makes a sucking sound effect which is absolutely precious!
When my Emily was having a tantrum, this Emily (same middle names too, just to be confusing) started yelling at me "Milk, Milk" and pointing to my breasts, then "Emily". Obviously she witnessed me calm my daughter down with the magical power of the boobs. It was too hilarious.
Seriously though, I am happy that our kids will grow up knowing this is the normal way to nourish your children. At times, we had a veritable breastfeeding convention - her mother nursing her 7 month-old, me nursing my 14-month old, and her nursing her baby(s). It was all relaxed and comfortable and it thrills me this is a part of the legacy we are leaving our kids.

Too cute - I remember when Olivia showed me how Aunt Stephanie fed Lily when she was just born (with one of her baby dolls)...
Oh, and we got little O a Walmart gift card for her birthday and she bought a new baby - she named her Emily ("you know Aunt Melissa, like your Emily!")! What a memory on that kid!
