Finally! (ie Teething)
The little monkey's first tooth broke through on Mother's Day. We were so excited! But now it seems like the true teething has begun: snotty nose, mouthing everything, grabbing her cheeks and ears, rubbing her gums. Her sleep has been restless and she cries out during her "awakenings" so it tells me something is going on. The problem is I have been giving her pain meds on a semi-regular basis (of course, dosed correctly at appropriate intervals, NEVER the max dose) because we have really and truly believed she was teething at other times during the last 9 mos, especially the last month or so. Maybe she was and it just took a long time. However, now we can be fairly certain (because are we ever really 100% positive about anything dealing with these kids?) that this time it is. And I have been giving her 1 or 2 doses of tylenol and 1 dose of motrin a day for some time. I am just concerned I am making her liver a raisin. God, I hope not, I just don't want to see her in pain! We also do other non-pharmacologic methods like ice, orajel, teething drops, and demand nursing to maximize our intervention. Thoughts?
